Moishe The Beadle and the Anti Vaxxers
As an ode to the current obsequious,saccharin coated, Holocaust memorializing that is currently taking place I present to you a real world lesson based on Elie Wiesel's Moishe the Beadle from the book "Night". It should be noted that many Rabbis rejected and continue to reject Yom Hashoah as an addition to the Jewish calendar. Rejecting Yom Hashoah is a very politically incorrect view but based on sincerely held religious principles, such as the notion that the 9th of Av is the date designated in the Jewish calendar for national mourning. We are now faced with the outlawing of religious beliefs and practices that are not politically correct.Nonconformist religious and scientific opinions and viewpoints are being denigrated, ridiculed, and delegitimized. People holding differing views from the "establishment" are being dehumanized, ostracized, and silenced.
In the opening of his famous book, Night, Elie Wiesel relates the story of Moishe the Beadle, the synagogue caretaker who comes back from a deportation in which he was the sole survivor of a mass shooting by the Nazis. He comes back to warn the oblivious people of the town of Sighet to prepare themselves and try to flee. No one believes him. They think he is crazy and lost his mind. Some think he just wants pity, attention, or is trying to hustle charity donations for himself. Day after day he gets up weeping and pleading to his fellow Jews to save themselves.He relates his story to warn them and they ignore him.
Moishe the Beadle was not the only one who tried to warn the Jews of Hungary. There were others. The establishment Jews in the communal leadership placated their fellow Jews and told them there was nothing to worry about. We are safe in Hungary. Horthy will never give us over to Hitler. Stay where you are. Everything will be fine.
Had people not listened to that bad advice they could have crossed the border to Czechoslovakia and hid out there. Rabbi Weissmandl had bribed SS-Haupsturmfuhrer Dieter Wisliceny to halt the deportations from Slovakia and it was possible for many to hide out there until after the war.
Today we are faced with a Moishe the Beadle in the form of the "Anti Vaxxers". Parents of Vaccine injured and killed children both Jewish and Non Jewish are weeping, pleading, and warning. Please listen. My child was severely injured by a vaccine. My child was killed by a vaccine. Please listen. The science is not settled. The science irrefutably proves that severe vaccine injury is real and commonplace. Please at least have a debate in public with the scientists and doctors who are warning about this problem before you take away my rights to make medical decisions for my child.
The "Establishment" is firm. Don't worry. Debating Vaccines is like debating the Holocaust and we will not do it. The Anti Vaxxers are just crazy. They are Flat Earthers. They are selfish. They are trying to make money by not vaccinating,advocating against vaccination, or from "Alternative" medicine. They are Insular. They are uneducated. They should be jailed, fined, sanctioned and punished. They are criminals. They are dangerous. They are uninformed.They are misinformed. They are spreading MISINFORMATION. Rabbi Ephraim Buchwald says turn the Unvaccinated Jews in to the authorities. He is echoed by Rabbi Yair Hoffman who refers to "ANTI VAXXERS" as Rodfim - Murderers. They have no right to claim Judaism is opposed to Vaccination or go against the "establishment". They must conform or leave the community.
The Anti Vaxxers have become the proverbial "JEW" - the ultimate threat to society in Nazi Ideology. The Orthodox Jewish Anti Vaxxers are even lower than that on the pecking order shunned and betrayed even by their own people."Woe, what has become of us".
